Dean of the college visits three Japanese higher education institutions

From Dec 21 to 25, Professor Zheng Tongtao, the Dean of the International College and Huang Guanhua, the Vice Dean visited Japan to strengthen cooperation with Japanese higher education institutions. Professor Zheng first visited Shizuoka Sangyo University where several students from the International College were studying there. He also visited Kyoto University of Art and Design, Kyoto Seika University. On Dec 22, the President of Shizuoka Sangyo University met with Professor Zheng. Later they inspected the university library and teaching facilities.

During the meeting, the President of Shizuoka Sangyo University introduced the history, current situation and future development plan of the university. Meanwhile, Professor Zheng also gave a brief introduction about the history and prospect of the International College and the principles and ideology of school operation. The visiting team also had a meeting with the teaching staff and students from our college.

Shizuoka Sangyo University has a long and friendly partnership with the International College. Since the running of 2+2 undergraduate study program in 2007, nearly a hundred Chinese students further their studies in Japan and the program has established a good reputation.

From Dec 23 to 24, Professor Zheng visited Kyoto University of Art and Design, Kyoto Seika University respectively. The Director of Kyoto Performing Arts Center welcomed the Dean and arranged for visits to the university’s teaching facilities for Textiles, Fashion Design, Architecture, Performing Arts as well as the affiliated Children's Academy of Art and Education. Both sides introduced the characteristics of disciplines and recent development, and explored further cooperation in joint programs.

Kyoto University of Art and Design is situated in Kyoto, with 13 departments, 21 disciplines and 103 specialized areas.

Professor Zheng met with the Head of the International Education Department of Kyoto Seika University. He expressed wishes to seek cooperation with Kyoto Seika University in art teaching and research as well as student and staff exchange.

Kyoto Seika University is located in Kyoto and was founded in 1968. The university has four faculties, namely Humanities, Art, Design and Manga, and provides courses ranging from bachelor’s, master’s to doctoral degree. The university is the first university in Japan to provide major in Manga and is called the cradle of Manga artists.
