Huang Zhuoyue, a student of Fashion Management 2+2 program of International College, Xiamen University, with IELTS score 6.5, has wide interests, especially like listening to music, watching English and American dramas. At present, she has received offers from many universities such as University of Southampton, University for the Creative Arts and Birmingham City University.

Xiamen University, as one of the best university in the Southeast China, has a strong academic atmosphere and excellent teaching faculty. With a strong love for Xiamen University, I resolutely chose International College(IC) to realize my dream of going abroad. Although, we studied in IC for the first two years, the teaching system and syllabus are closely linked with the courses of foreign cooperative colleges. After laying a good foundation in language and professional basic courses, we can quickly adapt to the study and life in the following two years abroad. I chose Fashion Management because it combines fashion with business and is a promising major with wide-ranging employment, which can bring me unlimited possibilities.

Free Academic Atmosphere and Rigorous Teaching Attitude

Here we can not only share the superior learning and living environment of XMU, but also truly experience the free academic atmosphere that is different from the boring, test-taking atmosphere in the past. We are able to find teachers to answer questions and discuss problems in the fixed class time. The strict requirements and rigorous teaching attitude of teachings impressed me deeply and made me improve my learning efficiency to the greatest extent. In addition, International College has a professional service system for studying abroad, which can provide a strong guarantee for me to go abroad smoothly.

Vocabulary is the most basic and important part of the IELTS test. I have a habit that is to recite things in English around wherever I am, instead of thinking of Chinese and then converting into English. In my spare time, I like listening English songs, watching English dramas. These can effectively cultivate my English thinking ability and sense of language, and improve my vocabulary.

Before the exam, I will set a goal, analyze my weakness, and work out a study plan that suits me.  Set the time strictly, improve the speed and pay attention to review the wrong questions, master the solving problem skills through repeated practice. It’s important to accumulate more synonyms in the daily study, since synonym replacement is particularly important in IELTS test. I believe that through the accumulation of intensive listening and reading, we will be able to develop the habit of thinking in English.

In university, besides study, another important part is to participate in various leisure activities to enrich our university life. Foreign universities not only value achievements, but also experience. Therefore, it’s suggested to make full use of your spare time to participate in various school festivals and club activities so as to increase your knowledge and expand your circle of friends.
