Introduction: Le Weilin, graduated from No.1 High School in Ningde; enrolled in foundation to master program in the International College in 2007 and majored in finance; was awarded Headmaster’s Scholarship and started her senior year at the University of the West of Englandin 2010.
Q: You won the Headmaster’s Scholarship from the University of the West of England. What does it include?
Le: It included £9,750, a full year tuition fee. I was very happy about it. The university also assigned me to work 10 hours per week, which is very helpful. I’ve expanded my knowledge and improved my working skills via one-year study and work.
Q: How’s your study in England?
Le: My major is accounting and finance. Apart from increased knowledge on accounting, I’ve also improved my independent thinking ability. English writing, listening, reading and speaking is not enough. You need to learn to think independently especially critical thinking. You will hear it many times a day and you need to use it in writing reports.
Q: What’s your suggestions for students who are about to go abroad?
Le: First of all, you need to strengthen your English skills, so that you can quickly adapt to the study and life. Secondly, some students may worry about discrimination. In this year when I’m abroad, the students and teachers around me are very nice and friendly. Many people are willing to help, so you don’t need to worry too much about it. Lastly, you must improve your self-help abilities. Parents will not be with you when you’re outside the country and you have to rely on yourself.
