In the afternoon of November 27^th, the soccer friendship tournament hold by International College launched in XiangAn Campus, Xiamen University, which the International College Soccer Team versus Alumni Team. This game aimed at marking the 10th anniversary of the foundation of International Soccer Team, enhancing the communication between alumni and current students in order to recall their good memories.

After continuous annoying rainy days, it finally stopped in the game day and the winter sunlight brought warm to every exciting viewer. At the opening ceremony, cheering squad consisting of freshmen and sophomore students from International College constantly drew viewers’ attention with their lively action and hot costume.

Dean Tongtao Zheng delivered a speech at the opening ceremony to express his great welcome to our alumni’ coming back to school, pointing out that this game was more than commemorating the foundation of the team. It was about the spirits passed down. Alumni showed greater love to our college than to soccer, who have been paying attention to our college’s development since graduation, and trying to devote every effort into college construction wherever they are. In the end, Dean Zheng showed his gratitude to alumni’ attendance and he hoped that everyone could visit our college in their spare time and witness our college’s changes, strengthening their relationship with Alma Mater through participating in all kinds of activities such as sports competitions and salons.

Admission of excellent players

What is worth mentioning is the admission of players. Members from two teams wearing unified and neat uniform marched into the pitch energetically under the leading of the flag bearer, showing their strong belief to win the game and their passion on football in the middle of the stage. Peizhong YU, chairman of the board of JIUZHOUSTAR Industrial Co., Ltd, also the chairman of the Alumni Association, contributed a soccer jersey to Dean Zheng as a present. The number 10 printed on the jersey represented the tenth anniversary of the establishment of International Football Team. During the passing ten years, soccer team had gained lots of rewards, such as the championship of Xiamen University Zone Competition in 2010, Xiamen University Freshmen Competition in XiangAn Campus in 2014 and Xiamen University XiangAn Cup in 2016.

Soccer players galloped on the court, sweating as they wanted. Kicking-off, mediating, goal... All were trying their best to break the defense and dash to the goal. “Go for it!” said the viewers. Tussling, intercepting, shooting... Every score was awarded with people’s cheer. Finally, it came out that the college team won the game at 3:1.

It’s quite a good chance for me to meet with my previous schoolmates and get to know some new friends at school, said Ganggang Huang, the first captain of International Soccer Team, graduated in 2006. Although busy, he cherished this precious opportunity to exchange experience with schoolmates and enjoy the soccer in the sun.

Team members are from all ages with the oldest one left school in 2006 and the youngest just graduated. Players in the alumni team all were creators and pioneers of our football team, within many of them were former team leaders. After graduation, they brought their combatant spirit to the competition of business world, using knowledge and hard-working to fight for their own ages. Among those alumni, there are people establishing their own high-tech companies, entrepreneurs with billions of investment, elites from financial field such as Xiamen Agriculture Bank, Shu Lun Pan, Industrial Securities and GUOSEN, and also chairmen, CEOs and majordomos from large corporations. We do believe that our alumni would never forget our college and always bear the favor in mind. In the future, they would use their own resources to establish the platform of Alumni Association and further strengthen the relationship with our school. We are looking forward to the coming future.
