On the afternoon of June 22, the 2021 Commencement Ceremony of International College, Xiamen University was held in the multi-functional lecture hall of Kunluan Building, Xiang'an Campus. He Yuanzan, Secretary of the Party Committee of International College, Professor Tao Tao, Dean of International College, Ms Huang Guanhua, Deputy Dean of International College, and Chen Xiangliu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, as well as teachers, counselors, administrative teachers, and all the 2021 graduates of International College attended the commencement. The commencement was presided over by Chen Xiangliu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee.

Before the commencement, all the teachers and students watched the commemorative video and recalled the university life together. Picture after picture evoked the good memory, and teachers’ blessings before leaving filled the room with a warm atmosphere.

The graduation ceremony began with the majestic national anthem. Dean Tao Tao on behalf of the college delivered a speech. He first sent the warmest congratulations and best wishes to the students who graduated successfully in the class of 2021, and extended heartfelt gratitude and sincere respect to the teachers and students’ parents. He expressed full affirmation and heartfelt congratulations to the graduates for their outstanding achievements in employment and further studies. He briefly reviewed the history of Xiamen University’s 100-year development, and pointed out that the 100-year history of Xiamen University is a history of patriotism and continuous striving for self-improvement. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, Xiamen University has achieved rapid development. Not only has it achieved its goal of becoming a strong school in the South, but it is also making strides to become a world-class university. The development of Xiamen University is inseparable from the leadership of the party, the prosperity of the nation and the progress of civilization, and the mission of advancing with the times and pioneering innovation. The class of 2021 students are not only fortunate to witness the centenary of Xiamen University, but also the upcoming centenary of the founding of the party. So, this year’s ceremony has extraordinary significance.He put forward three expectations for the students: Firstly, he hoped that the students would adhere to the school motto of “Pursue Excellence, Strive for Perfection”, strengthen the ideals and beliefs in the heart, cultivate a noble personality, and forge ahead. Secondly, he hoped that students could always be enterprising, regard learning as a quality of pursuing excellence and cultivate persistent concentration, persevere, and accumulate knowledge. Thirdly, he hoped that the students would have lofty aspirations, and be a person of good achievement, release their youthful passion in the struggle, find value realization in the running, pave the way for national rejuvenation, and contribute to the construction of the motherland.

Subsequently, Associate Professor Yang Jing, as teacher representative, delivered a speech. She congratulated the students for the fruitful results they have achieved over the past four years. She pointed out that university is not only about learning “how to get along with yourself and how to get along with others”, but the most important thing is to develop the habit of lifelong learning. She hopes that the students can always uphold the school motto of Xiamen University and have a full life.

Xie Yusong and Yao Jiatong spoke in turn as representatives of graduates. Xie Yusong, as a member of the postgraduate teaching team of Xiamen University, will go to the West to support teaching after graduation. He said that as a party member, he would strive to take up the baton, participate in targeted poverty alleviation,integrate into the great cause of consolidating and expanding the results of poverty alleviation, comprehensively promote the great cause of rural revitalization, and contribute to the construction of the western China. Yao Jiatong said that she was very lucky to be a student of Xiamen University in such a prosperous, harmonious and prosperous new era, and witnessed the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the 100th anniversary of the founding of Xiamen University， and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China together with teachers and students. In last four years,  Xiamen University not only taught her how to accumulate professional knowledge and improve her work ability, but also how to be a person of integrity, to be a person who knows how to be grateful and how to give back to the society, and a person who actively responds to the call of the Party and the country. As young people in the new era, they will shoulder the mission of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, stand on the world stage, and meet the challenges of the new era.

Many of the graduates of this year have won national scholarships and various honors from Xiamen University, and many of them have achieved excellent results in domestic and foreign competitions. In the awarding session, the college commends the students who have won the honorary titles of "IELTS High Score Award", "Three Good Students", "Outstanding Student Leaders" and "Outstanding Graduates" of Xiamen University. The leaders of the college awarded honorary certificates to the representatives of award-winning students and took a group photo. The ceremony ended successfully in the solemn school anthem.

"Keep Nanqiang aspiration for a long time, and it is time to set sail." May the 2021 graduates always carry the spirit of self-improvement of Xiamen University and the broad vision of International College, to create a more splendid life with youthful passion, perseverance, and excellent skills.

In 2021, there will be 181 graduates from the Dublin Project. As of June 22, 77 students will go to prestigious universities all over the world to pursue their Master Degree. Among them, 75 have been admitted to the world’s top 100 universities, including Columbia University, Johns Hopkins University, University of Southern California, andUniversity of California Los Angeles, Duke University, University of Illinois, Georgetown University in the United States, The London School of Economics and Political Science, University College London, Durham University, University of Manchester, University of Glasgow, University of Southampton, University of Birmingham, University of Bocconi in Italy, Essek Business School in France, University of Zurich in Switzerland, University of Sydney, University of New South Wales in Australia, National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and City University of Hong Kong. The admission rate of prestigious universities is as high as 97.4%, ranking first in the school. 24 students were admitted by well-known domestic colleges and universities, and 17 students were recommended for master’s degree with  exemption of the national postgraduate entrance examination. They were successfully sent to top universities in China, such as Peking University, Fudan University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Nankai University, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Xiamen University. More than 30 students are about to take up jobs in large enterprises, such as Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank, Bank of China, China Life, China Baowu Steel Group Coproation Limited, China Tobacco, CRRC, China State Construction, China National Nuclear Corporation, Vehicle Testing Engineering Research Institute of China , Shanghai Pudong Bank, Huawei, CATL New Energy, Ernst & Young, Xiamen International Trade and other large enterprises.
